About this piece
A Soviet mechanical wristwatch by Zaria (Заря), the dial marked with Cyrillic script and “22 jewels” — a designation referring to the precision of the movement rather than any decorative stones. The gold-tone case houses a clean, legible dial with printed numerals and a date window at 3 o’clock. The case back is stamped with what appears to be a maker’s mark. The watch is in working order, as stated, though some surface wear is visible consistent with genuine vintage use.
Soviet watchmaking was highly regarded for reliability and durability, and Zaria was a respected manufacturer. The 22-jewel movement indicates a quality mid-range timepiece, typical of the mid-to-late Soviet era. The dial retains good contrast and the hands move freely. We recommend a service by a qualified watchmaker to ensure optimal timekeeping and longevity, and a gentle clean with a soft, dry cloth to care for the case.
