Silver Vintage Protective Cross Charm Pendant
About this piece
A traditional silver cross pendant in ornate style, featuring a distinctive flared quadrilobe (four-lobed) upper arm typical of ecclesiastical and protective charms. The face is deeply incised with the figure of Christ in relief, whilst the reverse shows clear hallmarks stamped into the metal — evidence of Soviet-era manufacture. The cross measures approximately 25mm in length and hangs from a substantial bail loop, suitable for most chain thicknesses.
The patina and surface wear are consistent with regular wear over several decades; the metal shows the matte, lived-in quality of sterling silver aged with affection. The hallmarks — visible in the bail area — confirm silver content and origin. This is the sort of protective talisman carried by families through uncertain times, neither precious nor disposable, but treasured. Wear it as jewellery or keep it as an object of personal significance. A gentle buff with a soft cloth will restore lustre if desired; avoid harsh chemicals.
