A single earring from Imperial Russia, silver
About this piece
This modest silver pendant opens a window into Imperial Russian jewellery-making of the pre-revolutionary era. The coin shows the double-headed eagle and heraldic shields of the Russian Imperial crest, a design struck across hundreds of years and denominations. The piece has been repurposed with a simple suspension loop soldered to the top — a practical conversion that speaks to how Russian collectors and craftspeople have long honoured their coinage by wearing it close.
We have only a single earring; whether it was originally part of a matching pair or a standalone piece is uncertain. The silver has developed a characteristic grey-green patina across its face and edges, consistent with age and exposure. The loop remains secure and the surface retains good definition in the Imperial imagery. As a historical souvenir from Tsarist Russia, it works equally well as a pendant or charm, threaded onto a fine chain or vintage cord. We recommend gentle handling and occasional soft cleaning with a dry cloth to preserve the patina.
