Beautiful silver earrings with marcasite and natural pearls, new with box
About this piece
A graceful pair of drop earrings showcasing the elegant marriage of marcasite and pearl that defined early twentieth-century jewellery. Each features a delicate hinged post with a stylised leaf-shaped cap — characteristic of the period — from which hangs a circular pendant rimmed in marcasite (polished pyrite), with a lustrous natural pearl suspended at its centre. The geometric precision of the marcasite setting contrasts beautifully with the soft organic glow of the pearl.
The silver shows the patina natural to pieces of this age, with warm surface variation visible in the metal, particularly on the reverse. The pearls remain lustrous and well-preserved. The hinged clasps are sturdy and secure. These are the sort of earrings that sit elegantly close to the face and suit both daywear and evening dress. A light occasional polish will maintain their lustre; store them in a soft pouch to protect the pearls from knocking.
