Uk size S1/2 Soviet sterling silver ring
About this piece
A striking Soviet-era ring in sterling silver, featuring a boldly modelled lion’s head in high relief against the polished band. The face is deeply worked with characteristic expressiveness — alert eyes, prominent mane rendered as sweeping curves — while the shoulders and body are suggested in classical style. The band itself shows fine decorative detail: a crosshatch or lattice pattern frames the sides in warm yellow gold, creating elegant contrast against the silvered centre.
In UK size S½, the ring sits comfortably as a statement piece. The silverwork shows the confident hand-finishing typical of Soviet jewellery craft, where sculptural boldness and technical precision were hallmarks. Surface wear is minimal and consistent with age and light wear; the silver has developed a gentle patina that adds character without detracting from the design. A striking wearable antique with genuine presence.
