About this piece
This multi-strand necklace showcases the distinctive liquid silver technique characteristic of Navajo jewellery-making, where fine sterling strands are woven together to create a fluid, organic form. The sunburst motif is evident in the way the strands fan and layer across the front, creating movement and visual depth. At approximately 60 cm, it sits comfortably as a longer piece, lending itself to layering or wearing over lighter garments.
The necklace is constructed from multiple parallel strands of polished sterling, joined at a simple loop clasp at the nape. The weave shows the hallmark flexibility of this technique—the silver moves with the wearer, catching light as it shifts. The piece displays light surface wear consistent with vintage use; the silver retains good lustre throughout. For care, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth will maintain its polish, and it should be stored away from prolonged moisture to preserve the sterling finish.
