Vintage Oval Abalone Bangle.
About this piece
A graceful bangle centred with a polished oval abalone shell in warm burgundy-pink tones, set in what appears to be silver-toned metal with a simple bezel frame. The shell displays the characteristically iridescent layered surface typical of abalone, catching the light beautifully. The bangle itself is gently tapered, narrowing towards the opening, a classic design that allows easy slipping on and off the wrist.
The piece shows honest signs of wear consistent with vintage use — light surface marks to the metal and some cloudiness to the abalone where it has been worn against skin and clothing. These traces of time give it authentic character. The bangle will benefit from a gentle clean with warm soapy water and soft cloth; the metal may be polished lightly if desired, though we find the patina rather pleasing. A timeless accessory that layers beautifully with other jewellery.
