About this piece
This is a splendid find: a Soviet-made scarf from 1976, still unworn and in its original condition. The brown triacetate base is printed with a cheerful folk-inspired floral design — large poppies and daffodils in red, yellow and white, interspersed with tiny daisy sprigs that cover the ground. The composition shows the confident, graphic style typical of Soviet textile printing of the period, with bold outlines and careful colour separation.
Triacetate was a popular choice for mid-twentieth-century headscarves: it has a subtle sheen and drapes beautifully, while being easy to care for. At 78 × 78 cm, it’s a generous square, equally at home tied at the neck, worn as a head covering, or displayed as a vintage textile. The fabric shows no signs of age, yellowing or stiffness — a true time capsule from the Lithuanian Soviet era.
