Sterling silver religious protective cross with four stones
About this piece
A delicate sterling silver cross pendant, cast with ornate lobed terminals at each end and a slender shaft. Four small stones sit within the design — one at each cardinal point — catching light as the piece moves. The silver shows a gentle patina consistent with age and wear, with no major damage visible. The loop is neatly formed and substantial enough for everyday wear on a chain or cord.
The style suggests early-to-mid twentieth-century devotional jewellery. Crosses of this type were carried as personal protection, often passed down through families or given as gifts at milestone moments. The four-stone arrangement was believed to offer spiritual safeguarding. This example remains robust and wearable, its surface bearing the honest marks of time — light scratches and a softened lustre that speaks to genuine use rather than new-made patina.
