Japanese Bhuddist Wooden Prayer Beads rosary

Japanese Bhuddist Wooden Prayer Beads rosary

About this piece

A traditional Buddhist mala or rosary crafted from polished wooden beads in warm brown tones. The piece comprises two symmetrical strands of smaller beads meeting at larger spacer beads, with each strand terminating in a tassel fashioned from pale blue cord and finished with a larger wooden bead. The construction follows the classic mala format used for meditation and prayer practice, where the beads mark recitations or mantras.

The wood has mellowed beautifully with age and use, showing a gentle patina across the surfaces whilst retaining good lustre. The blue cord tassels remain vibrant and secure. This is a functional, meditative piece — worn looped around the neck or held in the hand during practice — and reflects both spiritual purpose and the quiet craftsmanship of Japanese Buddhist devotional objects. In its current condition, it remains entirely wearable and would suit either spiritual practice or as a considered accessory piece.
