Soviet enamel copper clip-on earrings
About this piece
A charming pair of Soviet-era Finift enamelled copper earrings, each shaped as a rounded lobe form with a decorative hand-painted floral motif in deep blue and purple tones set against a pale turquoise ground. The enamel work is characteristic of Finift tradition—meticulous, labour-intensive miniature painting on copper, then fired to a glossy finish. The brass-coloured clip backs are sturdy and function smoothly, designed for wear without pierced ears.
These earrings date from the Soviet period, when Finift workshops in Mstera and elsewhere maintained the craft heritage across generations. The delicate brushwork and colour palette—dark blue scrollwork framing yellow flower centres—speak to the artisan tradition of Russian decorative metalwork. The enamel surface shows minor surface wear consistent with gentle vintage use, and the copper beneath remains sound. They are lightweight and comfortable to wear. A light dust cloth will maintain their lustre; avoid soaking or harsh cleaning.
