SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL COMMEMORATIVE CROWN COIN IN CASE – 1965
About this piece
This British commemorative crown was struck in 1965 to honour Sir Winston Churchill following his death in January that year. The obverse carries the young profile of Elizabeth II (designed by Arnold Machin), whilst the reverse bears Churchill’s distinguished profile and the inscription “CHURCHILL REMEMBERS” — a poignant tribute to the wartime Prime Minister and statesman.
Housed in its original clear Perspex case, the coin remains in solid condition with good definition to both sides and an attractive silvery patina. The case shows typical wear from several decades of storage and handling. A touching piece of British history and a valued keepsake from a significant moment in the nation’s story. Churchill commemoratives remain widely collected, whether for their numismatic merit or as personal remembrance of one of the twentieth century’s most influential figures.
