Soviet USSR VINTAGE Glass Tea Cup Holder grape Podstakannik 1960-70s USSR
About this piece
This is a Soviet-era podstakannik — a traditional metal tea-cup holder — cast in silver-toned brass or similar alloy and dating to the 1960s–70s. The cylindrical body is richly embossed with grapevines and clusters, a classic motif of the period, set against a fine dotted ground that catches the light beautifully. The holder sits on a weighted base and features a squared handle, typical of the era’s functional design.
Designed to grip a standard Soviet glass tea cup and protect the drinker’s hand from heat, these holders remain popular collectibles and are still used today. The surface shows patina and light wear consistent with its age and honest use — a mark of authentic vintage character. We recommend gentle hand-cleaning and drying to preserve the engraving; avoid prolonged soaking or abrasive polishing.
