A striking vintage silver ring made in the Soviet Union in the 1970s. It is crafted in 925 sterling silver and decorated with traditional black niello work.
The sculptural top takes the shape of a sweeping wing or wave, with three layered tiers of deep black niello. Each tier is edged with a finely engraved silver rope border. The flowing abstract design is typical of Soviet modernist jewellery of the era and sits beautifully on the finger.
The band is stamped with the Soviet state hallmark (a star with hammer and sickle and 925) and a maker’s mark. There is light wear consistent with age, which only adds to its vintage character.
