Vintage Soviet silver earrings with natural peridot
About this piece
A striking pair of Soviet-era drop earrings in silver, each centred with a polished oval peridot of luminous olive-green, set within an ornate frame of applied studs and scrollwork. The metalwork displays that characteristic Soviet aesthetic: boldly geometric yet organic in its patterning, with substantial weight and fine finish. The lever-back clasps are secure and smooth, suggesting regular, careful use.
Peridot is a relatively soft stone, and these examples show the gentle surface wear typical of vintage wear—a few light marks on the polished face—but the colour remains vivid and warm. The silver has developed a subtle patina, which collectors often prefer as evidence of authenticity and age. These earrings would suit both everyday and occasion wear, and sit at a comfortable weight on the ear. A simple polish will brighten the metal if desired, though the current patina adds character.
