About this piece
A charming pair of drop earrings showcasing the natural iridescence of abalone shell. Each features a circular disc bezel-set with a fragment of paua shell in shades of blue, green and purple, suspended from a smaller oval shell accent on a simple wire hook. The silver-tone metal has developed a gentle patina over time, adding to their vintage appeal.
At 5.2 cm long, they hang at a graceful length without being heavy. The English lock (hinged) fastening is secure and easy to use. The metal shows honest light wear consistent with age and use; the shells retain their characteristic luminous play of colour. These earrings sit well on most faces and work equally as everyday wear or for dressing up.
