Small oval Orthodox icon pendant depicting St Panteleimon the Healer, patron saint of physicians and the sick. He is shown holding a martyr’s cross and a medicine casket. The reverse features an eight-pointed Orthodox cross with a Cyrillic prayer inscription reading “St Panteleimon, pray to God for us.”
Silver-toned, with a soft oxidised finish that brings out the detail. Pendant measures approx. 16 × 11 mm, or 23 mm including the bail and jump ring. Light and discreet — sits well on a fine chain. Chain not included. Pre-owned, in good condition with light wear consistent with age.
About this piece
A devotional pendant cast in sterling silver, depicting St Panteleimon, the healing saint of physicians and those in need of care. The obverse shows him in classical Orthodox style, haloed and holding both a martyr’s cross and a medicine casket — symbols of his spiritual and earthly gifts. The reverse bears an eight-pointed cross surrounded by Cyrillic text reading “Святой Панteleimon, моли Бога о нас” — “Saint Panteleimon, pray to God for us.”
The soft, darkened patina enhances the relief detail throughout, giving the piece a contemplative presence despite its modest 16 × 11 mm dimensions (23 mm with bail). The oxidised finish is consistent with age and respectful wear; the silver remains solid and the loop securely soldered. Designed to hang from a delicate chain, this small medal reads as both personal talisman and quiet statement of faith — a keeper’s piece rather than a showpiece. Sterling silver throughout.
