Austrian vintage edelweiss pendant in 800 silver
About this piece
A delicate pressed-flower pendant capturing an edelweiss bloom beneath glass, framed in ornamental 800 silver. The pierced, scalloped bezel — typical of Central European folk jewellery — lends a charming, antiquarian character. The flower itself shows the pale yellow petals and central seed pod characteristic of *Leontopodium nivale*, the iconic alpine plant of Austria and the Alps.
The piece sits comfortably on a simple silver bail, ready for a chain or cord. The resin or glass covering has kept the flower surprisingly vibrant; minor surface wear to the metalwork befits its age and use, adding authenticity. Care is straightforward: avoid immersion and prolonged moisture, and dust gently with a soft cloth. A lovely memento of Alpine heritage or a gift for anyone drawn to botanical jewellery and vintage metalwork.
