Vintage Soviet badges pins #1
About this piece
This collection comprises three Soviet-era badges and pins spanning architectural landmarks and cultural commemoration. The most striking is the enamel pin depicting a figure in dynamic pose, ringed with turquoise and black enamel and inscribed ‘ДВАН БАНКО CENTENNIAL’ (Ivan Banko Centennial) with the date 1856–1956. Alongside are two cast metal pins: one rectangular, showing a fortified townscape labelled ‘TARTU’ (the Estonian city), and another shaped as a shield, both in bronze-coloured metal with detailed relief work.
These pieces reflect the Soviet pin-collecting tradition—badges worn on lapels as tokens of cultural pride, travel souvenirs, or commemorative symbols. The enamel work on the centennial pin is bright and well-preserved; the cast pieces show the warm patina of age and frequent wear. Suitable for display on a collector’s board, sewn onto a canvas bag, or worn as a nostalgic statement.
