About this piece
This deadstock Soviet shirt dates to 1981 and remains unworn, still bearing its original factory label. Made of 100% cotton, it carries the modest practicality and clean tailoring typical of Soviet menswear — no flourish, just honest construction. The all-over print of small navy and rust birds in flight gives the cream ground a gentle, almost playful character unusual for workwear of the era.
Designed for a chest of 92 cm and a collar size of 39 cm, it suits a lean to medium build. The short sleeves, structured collar and button front are cut to sit comfortably without excess; Soviet sizing ran true and unfussy. The fabric shows no wear, fading or staining — a time capsule of socialist-era production. Store flat or hanging; a cool wash will preserve the cotton’s integrity if ever worn. The label documents its Kyiv manufacture under the Ukrainian SSR’s garment union.
