About this piece
A beautiful example of Scandinavian mid-century modernism, this sterling silver band exemplifies the restrained elegance of Nordic design. The narrow forged ring features two finely punched, textured panels separated by a raised diagonal fold with polished edges — a signature “torn metal” or birch-bark motif that Nordic craftsmen favoured in the 1950s–60s. The contrast between the oxidised matt surface in the recesses and the burnished edges gives the piece sculptural depth.
In UK size R (US 8.5, EU 57–58), the ring sits as a modern-looking statement band. The sterling silver shows light surface wear and scratches consistent with age; the hallmark, though worn, remains present. The original patina has been thoughtfully preserved in the textured areas, enhancing the design rather than polishing away the history. A piece for those who appreciate honest, understated craftsmanship and the quiet sophistication of Scandinavian silverwork.
