Baltic Soviet Union vintage pins
About this piece
A collection of brass and enamelled pins from the Soviet Baltic republics, spanning civic, regional and commemorative themes. Each piece is cast in bronze or brass with applied enamel detail, and mounted on a pin stem. The set includes architectural badges (notably a striking multi-storey building marked BUDAPEST and another inscribed VECRIGA, the Latvian name for Riga), civic shields bearing city names such as BEOGRAD, and circular pins in deep green enamel with gilt detailing. Several bear Cyrillic inscriptions identifying regions and institutions across Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
Dating from the Soviet era, these badges reflect the modest but earnest collectible culture of the period—small treasures pinned to lapels at youth gatherings, sports events and official ceremonies. The enamel remains largely vibrant, with expected surface wear and minor loss consistent with age and handling. Brass has developed a warm patina. Each pin functions perfectly on its original stem, making them ideal for display, or for wearing as a personal collection piece. A fascinating snapshot of Baltic Soviet civic pride and design.
