Vintage Hungarian Military KTP SPORTS PROFICIENCY BADGE
About this piece
A distinctive Hungarian military sports proficiency badge from the Cold War era, featuring a bold eight-pointed star in brass with an enamelled central medallion. The centre displays the Hungarian tricolour — red, white and green — beneath a red star and laurel wreath, with crossed torch motifs below. The design exemplifies Soviet-influenced military insignia of the period, emphasizing physical fitness and competitive achievement within the armed forces.
Cast in brass with hand-applied enamel work, the badge shows authentic wear consistent with service use: minor surface patina to the metal, slight loss to enamel edges, and a visible hinged pin clasp on the reverse. The craftsmanship is solid and typical of Hungarian military production. A notable piece of Cold War sporting and military history, ideal for collectors of Eastern European insignia, military memorabilia or Olympic-era sports badges.
