Vintage Soviet Russian Folk Charm Brooch — Matryoshka, Balalaika & Samovar Dangles, Silver-Tone Bar Pin, USSR 1960s
About this piece
A charming Soviet-era brooch celebrating three icons of Russian folk culture: a matryoshka doll, a balalaika and a samovar, each suspended from a decorative bar pin. The pieces are rendered in fine silver-tone metal with beautifully detailed relief work — notice the scrolling patterns on the doll and samovar, and the distinctive triangular shape of the balalaika with its characterful face-hole. All three charms move freely on their connecting loops, adding a playful quality to the design.
Made in the USSR during the 1960s, this is a delightful example of Soviet commemorative jewellery that captures national pride in folk traditions. The bar sits securely on a spring-pin clasp, and the whole piece shows light surface wear consistent with age and careful use.
