About this piece
This heart padlock clasp was made in London in 1977 by maker ASJ, as confirmed by its full hallmark: lion passant (sterling silver), leopard’s head (London Assay Office) and date letter C. The front is engraved with a screw-head and keyhole motif in restrained, symmetrical design — typical of mid-1970s British silverware. The hinged shackle opens and closes smoothly; a loop sits at the crown for securing a safety chain.
At 1.57 g, it is lightweight and compact. Originally designed as a clasp for a charm bracelet, it works equally well worn as a pendant on a chain, as shown. The surface shows light patina and wear entirely consistent with genuine age and gentle use. We recommend a soft cloth for polishing; for deeper cleaning, a silver dip or gentle brush with warm soapy water will restore shine without damaging the hallmarks.
