About this piece
A sterling silver bar brooch badge awarded by the Boy Scouts Association in recognition of service to the movement. The design shows a fleur-de-lis at its centre, enclosed within a belt-and-buckle frame inscribed “Thanks Badge” around the rim. The reverse is hallmarked sterling silver, confirming its precious metal content and authenticity as an official award piece.
This badge dates to the pre-1967 “Boy Scouts” era, a significant period in the organisation’s history. The brooch is mounted on a sturdy bar pin with working catch, making it wearable as both a badge of honour and a collector’s brooch. The silver shows honest age-related tarnish and patina, particularly visible on the reverse, which is consistent with its vintage status and outdoor service history. It arrives in its original presentation box, a valuable detail for collectors. A meaningful piece of British scouting heritage, readily worn or displayed.
